Getting Here
Nassau / Paradise Island is just a short trip by plane, a pleasant day by cruise ship, or a memorable voyage by private yacht or charter boat.
Getting Around
There are several options to help you get around Nassau/Paradise Island. Rental cars, motor scooters, buses and taxis are the most common means of public transportation. Bicycles are not generally available for rental.
Buses:
The buses (also called jitneys) are generally 32-seaters and travel to many parts of the island. They operate from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, except on Sundays when there is reduced service. The fare ranges from $1.25 per person to $3.50 for out-of-town zones. Exact fare is required. Check with your hotel's bell desk for bus routes.
Ferries:
There is hourly ferry service from the downtown area (behind the Straw Market) to Paradise Island daily. The cost is $3.00 each way.
Rental Cars:
Rental cars are available from rental car facilities located at the airport, some major hotels and at locations within the city. You must be 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license for all rentals. Visitors may use their home driver’s license for up to three months or an international driver's license. But remember, when you take to the road, please keep to the left. Pedestrians should remember to look right then left before crossing streets.
Taxis & Pre-Arranged Transfers:
Paradise Island Harbour Resort does not include transfers from Nassau International Airport. Taxi service is easily accessible from the airport for approximately $36.00 each way. Nassau Taxi's do not accept credit cards. Cash only. Taxi stands are conveniently located at the airport and most hotels. Taxi service is also available by telephone or on the street. Taxi rates in Nassau/Paradise Island are zoned, or can also be metered. Metered rates are reasonable and are fixed by law. Surcharges often apply for more than two persons and extra luggage. You can request to be charged by the taxi meter, rather than a flat rate, if you prefer.
You can pre-arrange round-trip transfers from the airport through Majestic Holidays for $46.00 per person for ages 13+. Children age 2-12 pay 50% of the transfer rate. To purchase transfers, email betty@majesticholidays.com
Majestic also offer private town car transfers. Email betty@majesticholidays for more information.
